12 Charities in 12 Months: Black Diamond Agency’s New Initiative

bd-joining-charity

Given the current climate and the continuing challenges we face as a nation, Black Diamond Agency is proud to share our new initiative. To show our support to those in need, we will be donating $1,000 a month to a different charity for the next 12 months. We want to be part of something bigger than ourselves and would like to use our success as a business to give back to the community.

As a staffing agency in Sydney with a large casual workforce, we always want our brand ambassadors to be involved in the decisions we make as a company whenever possible. With that in mind, the twelve charities we have decided on stemmed from the requests of our promotional staff and the causes close to their hearts. This initiative has also allowed us the added benefit of engaging, inspiring and deepening relationships with our team by making a meaningful impact together.

Our first six charities were based around the important issues many are facing in our country today. These include mental health, domestic violence, impacts of COVID-19, homelessness, children and families living in poverty and the animals affected by our recent bushfires. Although the decision was a tough one, we believe these charities have an amazing commitment to helping others.

Our first six chosen charities are:

July — Beyond Blue

Beyond Blue provides information and support to assist people Australia-wide. They exist to ensure anyone can achieve their best possible mental health, no matter their age, race or location. With over 3 million Australians living with anxiety or depression, and that number on the rise, we believe this charity needs our support.

August — St Vincent de Paul Society

St Vincent de Paul has an appeal set up to provide support to those affected by COVID-19 by supplying groceries, basic essentials such as clothing and blankets, assistance finding a place to sleep and generally helping reduce stress on families.

September — WWF Bushfire Recovery

Established in January 2020, WWF Australian Wildlife and Nature Recovery Fund were created in response to the catastrophic Black Summer bushfires. The fund delivers wildlife responses where they provide care and treatment for injured wildlife for effective recovery at scale.

October — White Ribbon

White Ribbon is a global movement that focuses on making both personal and community changes in preventing violence against women and children. They promote gender equality and engage men and boys to end men’s violence against women and girls and build positive, healthy and respectful relationships.

November — Street Smart

Street Smart’s aim is to eliminate inaccurate prejudices about homelessness, raise important funds for smaller and local organisations and make them stronger through collaborating and connecting them to their community.

December — The Smith Family

The Smith Family is a national, independent children’s charity that assists disadvantaged Australians in getting the most out of their education to ensure they can create better futures for themselves.

At Black Diamond, we acknowledge the importance of helping our community and believe with the support of our amazing team of staff, our clients and our hard work, we have been able to achieve a milestone in our business where we can proudly give back to those truly in need of our help.

We really are all in this together.
